Siwon was introducing himself and these two dorks caught him by surprise.. hehe... oh, and they didn't strip him, just lifted his shirt and pulled his pants... That was how high and low his clothes went...

I HAD HAD HAD HAD to post this up... hahaha. really good article^^

Kids are usually less conscious about their ethnic differences and when they share a common interest they become completely colour blind.

THE band is called Super Junior, or SuJu by their millions of fans throughout Asia, and with 13 members is said to be the biggest boy band in the world. They are also the latest craze among Malaysian teenagers from all communities.

Their more than 15,000 screaming fans present at their concert in a packed Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil last Saturday were not just from one ethnic group.

There were many groups comprising Malay, Chinese and Indian girls – it is a boy band comprising of very good-looking guys – walking together excitedly towards the stadium.

I know because I had to send my equally excited daughter and her Malay friend to the stadium.

There were a few young couples there, too, but it was obvious that the boyfriends were just there to keep their girlfriends company.

Tickets for the concert reportedly were snapped up at record-breaking speed, with the RM138 tickets completely sold out within two hours of the pre-sale. The RM238 tickets were sold out in less than a week. That left fans to scramble for the RM458 tickets in the rock pit, which put them practically within reach of the boys.

The stage cost RM6mil to build and those with the most expensive tickets stood in the middle, surrounded by the stage.

Why are Malaysian kids so hooked up on Super Junior? From all accounts, it is not only because the guys are just good-looking but also because of the tales and legends that have been weaved around the performers – 12 South Koreans and one Chinese.

But what had stunned many parents is that their daughters (and some sons) are such Ever Lasting Fans (ELF as they are called) because SuJu perform mostly in Korean with a mixture of English, Japanese and Chinese. Music critics also pan the group as artificial and not very good singers. But, they are “fantastic dancers”.

The sight of the mixed crowd swaying, dancing and mouthing various Korean words really gave my flagging 1Malaysia spirit a boost, and I even found it funny that it took a foreign act to pull the kids together.

A 20-something-year-old whom I consulted on this phenomenon said I was looking at it the wrong way. The kids did not have trouble getting along. “It’s when they lose their innocence and become corrupted by adult prejudices that they start thinking like you.”

He reasoned that kids see each other as whether they could be friends or not, as “their prejudices were different from that of adults”.

However, I don’t think so. I believe most Malaysian parents “poison” their child’s mind very early on – it’s just a matter of transferring their pre-conceived ideas by a few lose words here and there.

Some do it unconsciously but there are many who do it deliberately, out of fear. Discouraging mixed marriages is one of those purposeful prejudicial fears many parents implant into their children’s head.

Who can blame them, as even those in authority share their scorn for such unions? No one will come out to admit in public that they have a problem with their own getting into a mixed marriage.

On the other hand, mixed marriages can enhance our ethnic diversity. All we need to do is look at Sabah and Sarawak, where mixed marriages are so common. It is also in these two states that we find the greatest unity among the people.

Maybe Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should re-look the 1Malaysia concept and use mixed marriages as a way to promote national unity.

Thus, back to Super Junior. I believe it is their common love for the band that brings these girls from different backgrounds and cultures together.

Maybe Najib should also look at the attraction of SuJu to see if there is a lesson here to further reinforce his 1Malaysia concept.

“SuJu works because they are foreign and there is no preconceived prejudice against them.

“So, that is why the girls and their parents do not feel threatened by sharing their joy with someone from a different community,” said a public university lecturer who was also there to send her daughter to the concert.

She then reminded me of the Korean TV soap opera Winter Sonata, which was “so popular with all the housewives, regardless of background”.

“I, too, followed the series, even when it was repeated several times,” said the tudung-clad 40-something-year-old in our 30-minute discussion as we waited for our daughters.

“The actress wasn’t the prettiest but the storyline was so touching. I remember discussing the series with all my friends and neighours – Malays, Chinese and Indians. I guess that was our adult version of Super Junior.”

The two of us must have been quite a sight for the teenagers passing by, and they, too, must be wondering how come these two adults got along so well.

Why not? We were unified in our wait for our daughters who were being thrilled by a Korean boy band. There must be a lesson in there somewhere.

Please be aware that they are really low quality cuz I left my camera in the car and was only equipped with my handphone's camera which happens to be only 3MP! Lol... Plus, if I wanna use the zoom feature (to take close up pics), I have to change my camera mode to QVGA... So bear with me.... The vids are better in quality as I recorded the screen like 80% of the time... I didn't take all of the songs and for some songs, I only took a few seconds of video cuz I was too lazy too record =) There will also be some additional comments about the concert here, the ones I forgot to put in the main article... hehe...

South Korean pop group Super Junior worked its magic on the concert crowd last Saturday.

IF you have never been to a Super Junior concert, then be warned: the electrifying South Korean sensation can jolt you with their heart-thumping, ear-throbbing act.

Super Junior played to a sell-out crowd at The 2nd Asia Tour Super Show 2 Live in Malaysia 2010 in Putra Stadium Bukit Jalil in Selangor last Saturday night.

Some 15,000 ELFs (short for Ever Lasting Fans, referring to Super Junior fans) screamed and waved glowsticks in their official colour – pearl sapphire blue – throughout the concert.

Massive presence: Super Junior performing on a specially built stage – shaped like the Chinese character ‘tian’ (which means ‘field’) – before a crowd of about 15,000 screaming fans at their sell-out The 2nd Asia Tour Super Show 2 Live in Malaysia 2010 at Bukit Jalil, Selangor, last weekend.

 

One really needs powerful lungs, strong arms and boundless energy to be an ELF. And, yes, perhaps be half-deaf as well. My ears are still ringing from hearing “Super Junior saranghae!” (“Super Junior, I love you” in Korean) repeatedly at the concert.

The concert began at 7pm with performances by local Mandopop duo Thomas Jack – who were accompanied by eight dancers – and teen singer Iqwal. The South Korean group made its entrance at 8pm.

As the boys emerged at different locations around the specially built stage, fans went into an ear-splitting screaming frenzy and the concert venue literally throbbed with excitement.

Also known as SuJu or SJ, the South Korean act delivered 35 songs in Korean, Mandarin and English during the four hour-long concert.

Opening with their fast numbers – Thirsty, U, It’s You, She’s Dangerous – the guys showcased their various dance skills through high-energy dance choreography to tunes that were often punctuated with colourful blasts of pyrotechnics.

Super Junior did not even need to have that many choreographed sets; they stole their fans’ hearts with their playful nature.

Realising their infectious charm, the boys effortlessly worked their magic on the crowd. When they left the stage, even video clips of the boys had a similar effect on fans.

One of the highlights had the 10 members introducing themselves individually in the most entertaining manner: The Dangerous Cinderella Heechul, The Living Work of Art Siwon, Hottest Baby Kyuhyun, The Bubble Boy Yesung, Loveable Blurness Ryuwook, Ultimate Sweetness Sungmin, Bejeweled Eunhyuk, Sexy Fishy Donghae, Cutie Pie Shindong and Fallen Angel Leeteuk.

It was a shame that Kang-in, Kibum and Han Geng were unable to join their bandmates. Still, the 10 boys easily brought the house down with their mischievous antics.

The specially built RM6mil stage was shaped like the Chinese character tian (which means field): resembling a square box enclosing a T-cross in the middle, with die-hard fans tightly packed into four separate grids.

The interesting stage itself featured even more surprises as the boys could make their entry and exit at various points. Watching them appear and disappear from different directions added a delightful element of surprise. As promised during a media conference held some two-and-a-half hours before the concert, several of the boys appeared dressed up as girls towards the end of the show.

With fans clamouring for an encore, the boys emerged wearing cute headgear and obliged fans with songs like Pajama Party and Carnival. They even aimed waterguns at fans and cast all sorts of knick-knacks, which the crowd happily grabbed to keep as souvenirs.

Before taking their leave, Super Junior revealed that they were in the midst of preparing their new album, and thanked fans for their steadfast support over the years.

Their concert tickets reported record-breaking sales with the RM138 tickets completely sold out within two hours of the presale itself. The RM238 tickets were sold out in less than a week. That left fans to scramble for the RM458 tickets in the rock pitt, which put them practically within reach of the boys as the stage was built embracing the standing zone.

Debuting in 2005, Super Junior comprises 13 members, which makes them the biggest boyband in the world. The boys have 19 releases to their name, including studio and live albums as well as singles, compilations, soundtrack and various other collaborations.

Singing in Korean, Japanese and Mandarin, Super Junior easily appeals to music fans across Asia.

Yes! i'm finally working on my fan account! haha...was supposed to do it this afternoon while everything is still fresh! But nah... I was too busy uploading vids and looking at other ppl's pics... You can visit this website for more pics and videos!

THIS WAS A SOLDOUT CONCERT! Surprised!!

I got a really REALLY great seat! I was happy at how close I was to the stage eventhough I bought the 7th row seat... When I was at my place, the stadium was still not full except the rock pitts... So many ppl in there! Not only was I close to the stage, I was really REALLY REALLY close to a huge screen (YEY, gud right) AND THE SPEAKERS (so not good)... If u notice those boxes at the very top left hand side of the screen, those are the speakers! Same on the right... So u can actually imagine how loud they were as it was practically blasting throughout the whole show... One good thing abt that is u can hear the boys singing clearly instead of the fans screaming =)

Next, hm.... I sat beside a small girl and her parents. I think she's prolly less than 6 years old! so cute!! hehe... They were nice, the lady even asked me whether I was alone and I said yes. She then said ,'Waaa... kamu berani datang sendiri ah?' (translation: waa.. you're so brave to come alone?)... I said that it was a small stadium so it's more secure, unlike the bigger stadiums =)

I didn't take a lot of pics cuz I didn't wanna bring my camera in as I heard ppl saying that they would confiscate it if they catch u taking a pic or recording... well, to my surprise, almost everyone had a camera in their hand and were snapping away like nobody's business... lucky I had my h/p camera otherwise I would have trully regretted leaving my camera in the CAR!! 3MP h/p camera = not so good quality pics and vids =P

Guest performers started performing at 7.10pm? somewhere there... 2 performers and then a long long wait for Suju... We even did an impromptu human wave as we were so bored! hahha... It started from our side!! At first it didn't work, after once time, it stopped at one section, then another, but it didn't continue, and then we did it again and this time, it travelled throughout the whole stadium! AMAZING RIGHT? hahaha... Then a few minutes later, the uppter tier did their own wave... the ppl in the rock pits were cheering is on!

SuJu came out around 8pm! OK, seeing as I'm not a super super fan of SuJu but just a regular one, I couldn't recognise all the songs they sang... Here's a list of the songs that they sang with a little help from minoko2440 @ sapphirepearls.com and also the CD for the song titles. Songs not accurately in order of the show =)
They sang 35 songs in 3 hours!

A Man In Love (갈증) --- LOVE LOVE LOVE -- they performed this at MAA in 2008~~ They performed it even better here!! WITH PYROTECHINCAL EFFECTS! They were spread throughout the stadium~ A few members were even on the stairs in the audience! Plenty of guards were forming a line from the top of the stairs to the stage... Very nice opening to the super show ^^

U (rearranged ver)-- Also another song I like... Heechul was the only one with a white feathered fan and the threw it to the fans =)
His hairstyle was the same as the time he appeared on Invincible Youth!! hah. keep feeling like 'OMG! I'm actually seing this dude that was on Invincible Youth a week ago right in front here!!'... Oh, did I mention, fans went wild when SuJu did that c***** touching shake move that Michael Jackson is famous for... hahaha...

It's You (rearranged vers)-- Shirt pilling up action! Can't rememeber who... I think it was either eunhyuk, teukie or siwon who did cuz they did that in the beginning of the concert! 3 songs and they are already showing their abs?? hahh..

She Wants It -- Don't really know this song... a lot of pyrotecnical effects! ear splitting YES but beautiful YES YES YES! [EDIT] I remember Yesung had a gun in his hand and then he fired it (bluff gun of course)...If u listen to the song (on the super show 2 album), u can hear the gun shot at 3:08~~ hehe...

After that it was introduction time, I think~~ they had different nicknames for each of them... haha.. each of their names are called out and they do a short skit... i remember clearly that Siwon's shirt got pulled up by someone and his pants a little pulled down by another person! The whole stadium went wild! hahaha... I remember Yesung being introduced as Bubble Boy Yesung! hehehe... he did a short intro, trying not to break out of his bubble I guess and acted shy! Heechul was introduced as some evil princess??

Angela --  2 of the boys carrried one person who was singing, and then followed by another 2 who did the samething... Eeteuk and someone else did human wheel-barrow out to the center of the stage by sungmin n another member. haha... it was funny seeing them fool around!

Miracle -- Likey! Very happy song! I think they were running around the stadium performing this song... cant remember

Disco Drive -- Another song I'm not familiar with... seriously after listening to the mp3, I don't really recognise the songs they sang last night... haha... too much screaming and the sound system was different!! this was a really happy song, that I remember!

Dancing Out! -- Love this song! The MV was shot in right here in Malaysia =) Someone from the rock pitt handed Siwon a korean flag and he was proudly holding it up...

Member's solo performances -  I only remember Insomnia sang by Ryeowok... not bad though...

(Other songs sang were Baby Baby (Sungmin playing the keyboard), Beautiful (Donghae), Give Up (Siwon), Resignation (Yesung), What If, and Heartquake) -- Yesung's solo WAS AMAZING!! He was at the front stage though so had a clearer view from the screen...

Eeteuk's solo (Honey) -- Hehe... He's sooo cheeky! well, he had 3 extra girls with him and danced with one of them....

Sonata of Temptation (Heechul and Henry) -- Don't know this song as well... Henry was playing the violin and heechul almost ALMOST kissed Henry (he did kiss him in Shanghai)

Don't Don -- ANOTHER FAV... Henry played his violin at the centre of the stage!! Awesome! There's nothing I like better than live strings performance =)

Knock Out -- can't remember what happened here... but I like this song as well...

Our Love -- also can't remember what happened here... If I'm not wrong they were sitting on the stage singing for this part?? I seriously can't remember... haha... If that's what happened then I know that Sungmin HeeChul brought out his Iphone and started taking a vid of the members singing... (frm my seat it looked like HeeChul... hehe...) When it was Yesung's turn to sing, someone was kept trying to put his finger under Yesung's nose to close it... lol... YS looked a bit annoyed...

Puff the Magic Dragon -- This is where Heechul is dressed as a dragon, siwon as a fly, some hilarious member a spider that can't see where he's going... haha... Eeteuk and Donghae had to catch Hee Chul using a net and they did that by 'drugging' the dino with mineral water... lol...

Henry's Solo... song name? No idea... sry... He performed using his violin which was AWESOME

Blue Tomorrow (by SuJu M) -- also not familiar but am starting to like it! got a full vid of this perf

Super Girl (by SuJu M) -- LOVE this song as well ^^ It's playing now in fact! Got a full vid of this perf as well...

Shining Star - This has gota be the best performance of the night! I mean all of the ELFs cooperated and turned off their blue lights and used a small white light to create a shining star effect in the stadium... It was beautiful and it moved our dear leader Eeteuk to tears (that's what a lot of ppl are guesing. I didn't even know he was crying. got a pic of him though)...

Sorry Sorry (Answer) VCR and Sorry Sorry -- LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE!! They were all in white suits!! hahaha... My camera didn't do a good job of capturing them cuz it was just too bright... One of my fave perf of the night...

Chu! (originally sang by f(x) -- I like this song as well... hehe... Ryeowok, Heechul, shindong, and eunhyuk dressed up... Got a full vid of this as well =) the girls in front of me were dancing too!

Rokkugo (SuJu T) -- Hehe... Love this song, very upbeat!

Pajama Party, Sunny (SuJu Happy) -- Also another very upbeat and happy song!! for these 3 songs, everyone was dancing to the songs! Even I did a little small dance of the Rokkugo in my seat! hahah. It was fun! The members were all crazy at this time... hahaha... running here and there... [edit] Long silver confetti were shot up into the air at the ending!

Carnival -- Encore~~ I'm starting to like this song! The boys were all over the stadium for this song... They changed out of their con outfits and were wearing the T-shirts and funny hats (based on Hee Chul's messed up fairytale! =D )

Wonderboys -- This is the soundtrack (ending track) of the movie the boys starred in, Attack of the pin up boys... I love this song! Looks like I love so many songs ^^ They brought out the water guns or super soakers and started spraying at everyone!! Haha... I didn't get wet cuz the watergun wasn't that powerful... lol... I saw sungmin in the middle of the stage blowing bubbles... heh... then another member was also doing the same thing... Some of the audience brought out their own guns and started shooting back at the members! hahaha... they must have watched the concert b4...
Being alone, I was really shy about singing and dancing but I was already caught up in the hype and started tapping, nodding my head, and even singing during rokkugo onwards =)
[ADDITION] There was a Po doll (from Teletubbies) on stage that could walk really funny and one of the boys started imitating how the Po walked... haha... then they were singing the Teletubby song~~ lol...

Marry U -- Slower song... Nice nice~~ I like this song... Can't remember what happened or when they even sang this song during the show... hahaha...

Carnival and Wonderboys were encores... Then it was the closing speech... recorded this as well. gonna upload them another day... This post would be too long =)

Ee-teuk thanked the fans from Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, and Chunggu (he repeated this a few times then someone said CHINA)... haha... He then asked,'Any fans from Korea?' And there were people screaming! Then he asked ,' Anyone from America?' haha... nobody answered then someone said ,'Pabo' which means stupid... lol... It was a super show! I also remember a part where Siwon poured water on Zhou Mi and Henry who were innocently standing there thanking everyone... haha... caught this on video as well!! Oh and Ee-teuk mentioned something abt a fourth album and asked us to shout 'Sa-jib Daebak' which literaly translates to 4th album great success! haha... YEY! It will be...

And that's the end of it all!! The songs might not be in right order... One or two songs might have been missed out as well... haha... I feel accomplished now... This is part one only =) Stay tune for part 2 where I'll post up a few pics and all of my videos... Did I mention that the pyrotechnical effects were AWESOME?? It was a small stadium and the fireworks or fire shooting sparks reached the lighting equip at the ceiling?? haha... There were a lot of pyro effects which I love! If u watch MuBank, they use it a lot too! this is why I love Korean concerts!! There were loud BANGS as well... REAL LOUD! I mentioned earlier that I was sitting really near to the speakers... I had to hold onto my chest afraid that my heart would couldn't take it... seriously! I came out of the concert with a major headache, sore eyes, and half deaf... The lighting around the screen were like those flashing ones in the disco... really bright... yea... that's all for now~~ Really glad I got to see Yesung LIVE and so near!!
